Message from the SATC Chairman

Experienced tourism professional Eoin (Owen) Loftus has been today formally appointed as a Board Director of the South Australian Tourism Commission.

SATC Chairman Andrew Bullock announced this afternoon that Mr Loftus will join the Board later this month, bringing his expertise in the hotel sector, as well as his strategic approach to tourism business growth.

“Eoin has more than 30 years of experience in planning, designing and establishing hotels, and a strong track record in identifying and building tourism opportunities in South Australia,” he said.

Eoin has a Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from Adelaide University, Graduate Certificate in Management Uni SA and is a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD). Eoin also serves on the Academic Board of the International College of Hotel Management and was also on the former Events Advisory Group.

He has also served on the Board of the Tourism Industry Council of South Australia, including as Chairman for the past five years, and until recently was chief executive of the Majestic Hotels and Apartments group.

Eoin’s appointment comes following the departure of Helen Edwards, whose tenure on the Board has concluded.

“I want to acknowledge the tremendous contribution that Helen has made to the SATC Board. Her passion and energy for supporting tourism operators, and the growth of tourism across the state, is second to none,” Mr Bullock said.

“On behalf of the SATC Board, executive team and staff, I thank Helen for her energy, and look forward to continuing to work with her as she continues in her role of SATC’s Regional Visitor Strategy 2025 Chair.”
