Ballot to unlock the next round of Great State Vouchers
A ballot for the next round of South Australia’s Great State Vouchers will help unlock thousands of tours and experiences across the state.
Lucky recipients can secure a $50, $100 or $200 voucher, giving consumers across South Australia a range of options to book – from shark cage diving to hosted wine tours – for a discounted cost.
The electronic, randomised ballot – to be held in late April – will ensure a fair and equitable voucher distribution. It comes on the back of the hugely popular round two which saw nearly 75,000 vouchers snapped up in just 39 minutes.
The Great State Experiences Voucher program, an initiative of the South Australian Tourism Commission, aims to stimulate a sector hit hard by the downturn in international and interstate visitation and shine a light on the incredible experiences available across SA, and the local experts and guides who deliver them.
Hosted experiences from shark-cage diving and swimming with sealions, to helicopter and mountain bike tours, and guided food and wine trails are expected to be available for the voucher discount.
Consumers will see added functionalities in the SATC’s website to improve the user experience – including being able to ‘filter’ by experience theme (e.g. wildlife or food and wine) and being able to view the operator’s availability and book within the platform.
All South Australians over the age of 18 will be eligible for a Great State Experiences Voucher, and a limited number of vouchers will be made available to residents over the age of 18 in New South Wales and Victoria, to entice visitation from key domestic tourism markets.
The ballot details come following an Expression of Interest sent this week from the South Australian Tourism Commission to more than 500 South Australian tour and experience operators, as well as to key industry partners to share with their networks.
SATC chief executive Rodney Harrex said the agency has listened to industry and to the feedback from previous voucher rounds in developing this voucher iteration.
“This latest round of vouchers will see locals spending up on tours and experiences which they might otherwise have overlooked while holidaying in their home state,” said Mr Harrex.
“Following the success of the Great State Voucher program rounds one and two, we’ve taken on the feedback from both operators and consumers, to create efficiencies and a more user-friendly experience for all.
“We’re looking forward to seeing bookings roll-in the door for hosted tour and experience operators across the state, and to creating a whole host of ambassadors who can spruik all of the incredible experiences we have on offer across the state – giving their families and friends more reasons to get out and keep seeing SA.”
Eligible consumers will be able to enter the ballot at southaustralia.com/voucher at any time from 9am ACST on Wednesday 21 April 2021 until 10pm ACST on Friday 23 April 2021. They will need to nominate their preference for a voucher type:
- $50 or $100 voucher (consumers will go into the draw to win either: (a) a major prize of one $100 voucher; or (b) a minor prize of one $50 voucher).
- $200 voucher (overnight or multi-day tours only).
Vouchers can be used only on participating hosted tours and experiences of an equal or higher value. This means:
- $50 vouchers can be applied to all experiences listed in the program
- $100 vouchers can be applied to experiences valued at $100 or more
- $200 vouchers can be applied to multi-day experiences only.
Consumers who are successful in the ballot will be notified via text message and email.
Bookings can be made following the Anzac Day long weekend, from 9am ACST on Tuesday 27 April 2021 until 11.59pm ACST on Sunday 23 May 2021.
The travel period runs from Tuesday 27 April 2021 until Saturday 31 July 2021 (inclusive), bookable seven days a week including Saturdays and during the July school holidays.
