Your latest SA Tourism news

South Australia is more globally connected than ever before, and this is only strengthening with this week’s news that Air New Zealand will commence direct flights from Christchurch to Adelaide from October. Adding to the airline’s direct flights from Auckland, the new route will provide even easier access to the growing New Zealand market – which is currently worth $82 million to our visitor economy. It is also the first direct connection to one of Adelaide’s Sister Cities.

The news comes as we countdown to the first direct Indonesia AirAsia flight to Adelaide at the end of the month. Operating four flights per week, the service will connect over 130 destinations across Asia and beyond to South Australia.

We saw the opening of a new luxury product last week, with the opening of the Monarto Safari Resort. The SATC Board and Executive team recently had the pleasure of visiting the resort as part of a regional Board trip. The resort will be a key driver for the Murray River, Lakes & Coorong region.

As has been well reported in the media, South Australia is currently experiencing algal blooms in some water bodies around the State.

We will continue to monitor this situation and will share updates from the Department of Primary Industries and Regions SA (PIRSA), Department for Environment and Water, and SA Health as it evolves.

It’s recommended to advise all visitors, operators, and community members to follow the latest public health advice from SA Health, particularly regarding beach access and water activities. Updates for visitors are available on southaustralia.com.

Finally, I am looking forward to seeing our industry at the South Australian Tourism Conference presented by TiCSA - I will be providing an update on where we are at, a preview of the new South Australia Tourism Plan 2030, which will be launched later this month, and our focus for the next 12 months.
