Australia’s favourite eating and drinking festival Tasting Australia presented by RAA Travel announces its return for 2022 from Friday 29 April to Sunday 8 May.

The 2022 event will be the 16th edition of Tasting Australia and will once again showcase the very best South Australian produce, producers and regions. After a one-year hiatus due to COVID in 2020, more than 53,000 people came through the gates of Town Square in Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga and over 90 events sold out across Adelaide and regional South Australia during the 2021 event.

Premier Steven Marshall recognises the importance of Tasting Australia to the state.

“South Australia is well and truly on the map for our abundant food and beverage scene,” said Premier Marshall.

“Tasting Australia helps to tell the state’s food and beverage story and build our reputation as a must try culinary destination. It is all about offering unique experiences and showcasing the states rich regional landscapes and I am thrilled to see what is in store for the festival in 2022.”

Festival Director Simon Bryant said that autumn feels like the ideal season to host Tasting Australia.

“During autumn, produce is at its peak, our winemakers have just finished vintage and there’s a beautiful sense of enjoying the state’s harvest,” said Mr Bryant.

“There’s no doubt that 2021 was a really strong event which truly highlighted the seasonal produce and stunning autumn backdrop. We look forward to delivering an outstanding program again in 2022.”

Onboard for the first time in 2021, the festival’s Food Curator, Darren Robertson is again confirmed for the 2022 dates.

“It was a privilege to be involved with Tasting Australia in the role of Food Curator – as part of the creative team, our vision was for visitors and chefs to leave the event as inspired as I was when I first came to Tasting Australia and I believe we achieved that,” said Mr Robertson.

“Tasting Australia is a true celebration of food, drink, produce and producers and I am excited to head back to South Australia in 2022 to share this message with the rest of the country.”

Presenting partners RAA Travel has confirmed its partnership with the event again next year, with RAA General Manager Travel and Distribution, Gina Norman expressing her excitement for next autumn’s festival.

“RAA Travel is thrilled to support Tasting Australia as presenting partner for the second time in 2022,” said Ms Norman.

“We are delighted to work with the event that showcases South Australia and our world class culinary experiences. The RAA Travel team looks forward to assisting all event attendees with their travel needs whilst in the state.”

Established in 1997, Tasting Australia is the country’s longest running eating and drinking festival. The 2021 edition ran from 30 April – 9 May and featured more than 40 local and national chefs, winemakers and other culinary experts, with events spanning across 11 regions from Adelaide to the Barossa, Fleurieu Peninsula, Riverland and Kangaroo Island.
