South Australia's wine tourism greats
A world-renowned premium South Australian winery and restaurant has been named the International Best of Wine Tourism Award winner at the 2022 Great Wine Capitals SA Best of Wine Tourism Awards.
Penfold’s Magill Estate topped the list of winners in the Awards, presented at the ‘Cheesefest – Gather and Graze’ event in Adelaide on the weekend.
The Great Wine Capitals SA Best of Wine Tourism Awards celebrate innovation and excellence in wine tourism, and local winners will stand alongside nominees from nine other Great Wine Capitals around the world in the international Awards program.
South Australian Tourism Commission chief executive Rodney Harrex congratulated award winners and said it further cements SA's position as a world-class wine destination.
"With eight of South Australia's world-class wine regions represented by 18 wineries which made the finalist cut, it's clear our state is home to a high calibre of wine tourism experiences," he said.
"SA is known among Australians as the state for credible wineries and wine regions, and in the Year of South Australian Wine, I commend finalists and winners who are engaging visitors with their first class offerings."
Adelaide, South Australia, is part of the Great Wine Capitals Global Network, a group of international cities whose wine regions are recognised as significant economic and cultural assets.
In the Awards’ sixth year, the winners are:
- Accommodation – Simon Tolley Wines – Adelaide Hills
- Architecture and Landscape – Lake Breeze Wines – Langhorne Creek
