Save the dates SA – Great State Vouchers up for grabs

Mondayitis is cured for the next two weeks, with South Australians invited to save the next two Mondays in their calendars for two separate ballots to unlock rounds five and six of the Great State Voucher scheme.

From Monday 13 September, enter the ballot for round five – Great State Experiences Vouchers – for the chance to get up to $200 off participating tours and experiences across the state.

From Monday 20 September, the ballot for round six – Great State Accommodation Vouchers – will provide $100 vouchers for use on participating CBD and North Adelaide hotels and $50 vouchers for use on accommodation across suburban and regional SA.

Open exclusively to South Australians, the upcoming rounds of the South Australian Tourism Commission’s Great State Voucher scheme will bring the total estimated economic impact of the scheme to more than $90 million.

Deals on offer include city stays to regional tours, cooking schools to fishing charters, roof climbs to bush walking, hosted wine tasting experiences to foodie tours.

Premier Steven Marshall said the tens of thousands of vouchers would get South Australians travelling and spending with businesses across the state, helping create and sustain SA jobs.

“With over 90,000 vouchers available for use across our state’s tourism industry from now until December, we’re injecting millions into our state’s visitor economy at a pivotal time,” Premier Marshall said.

“Data shows time and time again that this is a proven tourism stimulus with an incredible return on investment. It generates bookings for businesses, gets staff rostered on, and creates a spending flow-on in cafes, restaurants, bars and pubs.

“Until we get closer to our vaccination target, we’re all about boosting intrastate tourism. We know there is pent up demand. People want to get out and support the thousands of family businesses who have been doing it tough in the past 18 months.”

South Australian Tourism Commission chief executive Rodney Harrex said the agency has again worked with industry to ensure this stimulus is delivered when and where it is needed.

“City hotels told us they wanted the vouchers in the hands of consumers as soon as possible, so we’ve expedited round six and will get people booking overnight stays in less than a fortnight – this is going to drive people and dollars back into the CBD,” he said.

“Springtime in SA is a perfect time to plan a getaway – we have the Bloom collective, great events in our regions and city, wineries and cellar doors in full swing. It’s time to lock away a local holiday with all the add-ons.

“We’ve got a great track record of safe travel and low restrictions – so there is never a better time to get out and about, book a stay and explore. There are some amazing tour operators who can show you parts of South Australia that you might never have even known existed – let a local take you out and give you the five-star treatment.”

Eco-friendly electric-assisted trike experience, EcoCaddy, tours around Adelaide’s laneways and parklands with local guides, and saw a “huge increase” in intrastate bookings in the previous Great State Experiences Voucher round.

Owner/operator of EcoCaddy, Daniels Langeberg said: “We’re excited to be taking part in the next round of the Great State Voucher campaign. The first round saw a huge increase in new local customers jumping onboard our city-based experiences.”

“Many who rode with us just needed the extra incentive to book a local tour and once they had, were surprised just how little they knew or had seen of the CBD and North Adelaide – and loved it so much, they referred friends and family to book a tour after the campaign had completed or booked another one themselves.”

South Australian owned and operated Majestic Hotels and Apartments, will have all six of its hotels in the sixth Great State Voucher round, including its luxury Majestic M Suites in North Adelaide which opened earlier this year.

CEO Majestic Hotels and Apartments, Eoin Loftus said: “Another round of the Great State Accommodation Vouchers will be greatly appreciated by many operators, especially those in the CBD who are doing it very tough right now with key borders closed. This much needed support will assist hotels, tours and many other businesses in hospitality, retail and beyond, so this stimulus to encourage locals to stay and experience what our amazing state has to offer is welcomed with open arms.”
