LIV Golf tees off | AHICE countdown | Event funding
South Australia is shining on the world stage this week thanks to the return of LIV Golf Adelaide. Teeing off at The Grange Golf Club today, up to 30,000 attendees are expected to attend the tournament each day – up on the 20,000 daily last year.
More than 40 per cent of ticket holders are from interstate and overseas, and we are seeing this translate into strong bookings for our accommodation operators across metropolitan Adelaide.
We have been working to deliver a bigger and better international event that not only fills our hotel rooms, restaurants, and bars, but also cements our state’s reputation as a sporting destination of choice for athletes and spectators alike.
Executive decision makers from national and international hotel chains will descend on Adelaide next week for the Asia Pacific Hotel Industry Conference and Exhibition (AHICE). From 1-2 May, the major hotel event will see some of the world’s largest investors and decision makers in the global accommodation sector experience our tourism and business offerings firsthand.
Events will continue to draw more visitors to our state next week. The 2024 Santos Wheelchair Rugby National Championships will be held from 3 - 5 May, with the best Australian and New Zealand athletes playing for their various teams in preparation for the Paralympic Games in Paris later this year.
Also beginning next Friday is Tasting Australia presented by RAA Travel. The 10-day program of more than 150 events will showcase the best of our people, produce, and places right across the state.
I’d like to remind event organisers that applications for our Regional Event Fund 2024-25 close on Monday 6 May. The Fund supports established and developing events to help strengthen our regional events calendar and drive visitation across the state.
