Illuminate Adelaide’s dynamic new program set to shine this July
South Australia’s major winter festival, Illuminate Adelaide continues to evolve as one of the country’s standout seasonal events, returning this year with an exciting new program.
From 1-19 July, a dynamic lineup is set to transform the CBD with 11 world premieres, 11 Adelaide exclusives and over 100 experiences and performances creating a vibrant winter playground of light, art, music, technology and culinary discovery.
Nearly 30 per cent of the program is free to access, providing a cost-effective winter school holiday outing for families.

City Lights: the free program of installations based in art, light and technology will light up an expanded footprint in 2026 to include Rymill Park/ Murlawirrapurka from 4-20 July.

Night Visions: an enhanced experience returns to the Adelaide Botanic Gardens.

Augmented Games: new for 2026, the Australian premiere by Montreal based multimedia studio Moment Factory offers an interactive playground of immersive games at the Adelaide Showgrounds.

Luminary Artist in Residence: renowned French multi-media artist, Miguel Chevalier will present a projection mapping display on Government House, a major interactive piece at Bonython Hall (City Lights), as well as a ticketed exhibition, Digital Abyss at ILA | Immersive Light and Art of Light Square.

Universal Kingdom – Ice Age: Adelaide Zoo hosts an immersive pre-historic series for families focusing on the Ice Age and Megafauna with illuminated lanterns, interactive projections and life like Ice Age puppets.

Unsound: music events will light up the Lion Arts Factory, Hindley Street Music Hall and Ancient World.
The program shines a light on South Australia’s premium food and beverage through collaborations across Adelaide’s hospitality sector and venues. Curated dining experiences at some of the state’s most iconic venues are also on the menu, including:

Ocean to Plate, an immersive dining experience at the Adelaide Convention Centre.

Illuminate After Dark at the Adelaide Central Markets, hosted by Valerie Henbest of Smelly Cheese Co.

Symphony of the Senses, featuring members of the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra held at Garçon Bleu, Sofitel Adelaide.

Botanic Lodge Night Visions dining experience returning for 2026.
Last year, the festival recorded 1.5 million attendances and injected $74.7 million dollars in economic activity – tripling the annual total attendance and more than doubling the annual economic activity since the inaugural event in 2021.
Illuminate Adelaide adds to South Australia’s vibrant winter events calendar, featuring Adelaide Cabaret Festival, Gutsy Kangaroo Island, Winter Whale Festival in Fleurieu Peninsula, Coober Pedy Opal Festival in Flinders Ranges & Outback, and Winter Reds in the Adeliade Hills.
