After the 2024 AFL Gather Round kicked goals for South Australia last week, exciting news was announced for the 2025 event with confirmation the Barossa will be a host venue.
The State Government is partnering with the Barossa Council to deliver a jointly-funded $40 million full-scale redevelopment of Lyndoch Recreation Park, drawing a huge national audience to the tourism region and supporting the local economy.
The Barossa Park Project will see the existing oval upgraded to meet AFL standards and deliver a precinct for multiple sports at community and professional levels. It will also open up new opportunities for festivals, the arts and conferences to come to the region.

Looking to our broader tourism strategy, we welcomed Tourism Australia’s Executive team to our office last week, including Managing Director, Pip Harrison. The immersion day was a great opportunity to provide them with an update on our current strategy, key international target markets, and our objectives for the future. It is important to align with Tourism Australia as we work together to progress our state and nation’s tourism industry to recover and grow our international markets.
