Celebrating the best of SA’s tourism regions
A new Outback beer festival, local arts and cultural events, and month-long celebrations of our world-class wine are amongst the attractions supported through the latest round of the Regional Event Fund.
The South Australian Tourism Commission supports the development of new and innovative regional events and growth of existing events, while driving visitation and economic stimulus across regional South Australia.
A number of events will drive visitation in the traditionally off-peak winter season, such as the new Parachilna Outback Beer Fest in the Flinders Ranges & Outback. The festival will bring together some of South Australia’s best regional breweries and produce – with the music lineup headlined by Australian artist, Shannon Noll.
Another event first is the Flinders to Fleurieu Rally, which is set to become Australia's largest gravel special stage rally, attracting competitors, officials and spectators from around the world. The unforgettable motorsport journey will travel from the historic township of Quorn and conclude with a celebrational finish in Victor Harbor.
Festivals celebrating some of the state’s 18 wine regions will highlight why South Australia is the first and only Australian destination set to feature in the globally renowned Michelin Guide, such as Fleurieu Peninsula’s McLaren Vale Grenache & Gourmet, Clare Valley Festival of the Lamb, Coonawarra Cabernet Celebrations in the Limestone Coast, and the new Barossa Sessions.
Funding is offered across two event categories: Established Event Funding and Development Event Funding. Event organisers could apply for up to three years’ funding, to the value of $50,000 per year for an Established Event, and up to $20,000 per year for a Development Event.
Minister for Tourism Emily Bourke said regional events are vital for local communities, encouraging visitors to explore SA by providing a platform to showcase what makes their part of the state so unique.
"There are significant flow-on benefits from these events for regional economies, from supporting local tourism operators, accommodation and hospitality providers to hire car companies, main street shops and everything in between," Minister Bourke said.
"The events supported by the Regional Event Fund highlight what makes South Australia a must-visit destination – good food and drinks, natural wonders, rich history, and artistic talent - all delivered with authentic hospitality.
I encourage South Australians to check out what’s on in their backyard, stay a few nights, and discover the simple pleasures of South Australia."
Prairie Hotel General Manager, Ellie Gorringe said "we've been dreaming about creating an event like this for a long time, so we're incredibly thankful to the South Australian Tourism Commission for believing in the vision and supporting us through the Regional Event Fund which has helped turn a big idea into reality."
"The Outback Beer Fest is about more than just beer – it’s about celebrating everything we love about regional South Australia – amazing independent breweries, local food, live music and, most importantly, bringing people together in one of the country's most unique destinations," Ms Gorringe said.
"We can't wait to welcome visitors to Parachilna and share a weekend they'll be talking about long after they head home."
Riverland Rose and Garden Festival President, Vicki Dunhill said the 2026 Riverland Rose and Garden Festival will be the 32nd rose festival since its inception as the Renmark Rose Festival in 1994.
"I cannot convey strongly enough how important and helpful this funding will be to make this year’s festival a resounding success," Ms Dunhill said.
"The festival is now a Riverland regional 10-day tourist opportunity with open gardens, gala dinner, festival fair & market, floral display, Waikerie Garden Show, Loxton Garden Club High Tea, and many other attractions.
"We will be advertising far and wide to attract visitors, not just from the Riverland, but also Adelaide, country South Australia, and interstate – particularly western Victoria.
Thank you so much to the South Australian Government for supporting this keynote Riverland event."
City of Port Lincoln Tourism and Events Manager, Naomi Blacker said the City of Port Lincoln is delighted to receive support through the State Government’s Regional Event Fund for the 2027 Tunarama Festival.
"This funding will enable us to further enhance the festival experience through improved event infrastructure and marketing, creating a more vibrant, professional and welcoming event for both locals and visitors," Mr Blacker said.
"Following the outstanding success of Tunarama's return in 2026, we're excited to continue building the festival as one of regional South Australia's premier events, showcasing Port Lincoln's world-class seafood, coastal lifestyle and community spirit while attracting visitors who deliver important economic benefits to our region."
Heidi Guyett from the Coonawarra Vignerons Association said the Regional Event Fund support is a welcome investment in one of South Australia's iconic regional wine festivals.
"This funding will help us continue to grow Coonawarra Cabernet Celebrations as a key driver of visitation to the Limestone Coast, encouraging visitors to stay longer, explore more and experience the very best of our region," Ms Guyett said.
"Festivalgoers can look forward to an exciting three-week program celebrating everything that makes Coonawarra unique – from our exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon and premium food and wine experiences to behind-the-scenes winery events, live music sessions, bespoke tastings and opportunities to meet the
passionate people behind our wines.
We look forward to welcoming visitors to Coonawarra this October."
