Best of Wine Tourism Awards now open

The Great Wine Capitals 2021 Best of Wine Tourism Awards will celebrate the resilience and innovation of the South Australian wine industry in what has been an extraordinarily challenging year.

The Awards are open to South Australian wineries or vineyards that offer wine tourism experiences across a range of categories, and this year's application process has been simplified to enable operators to still enter the awards and gain exposure and recognition for their commitment to providing leading wine tourism experiences during an exceptional time.

Applications are now open to South Australian wineries or vineyards in the following categories:

  • Accommodation
  • Architecture and landscape
  • Art and culture
  • Innovative wine tourism experience
  • Sustainable wine tourism practices
  • Wine tourism restaurant
  • Wine tourism services.

Category winners will go into the running to win an International Best of Wine Tourism Award, providing global brand exposure, media opportunities, and benchmarking with overseas wine tourism offerings across the Great Wine Capitals of the World.

The Great Wine Capitals is a global network of internationally renowned wine regions, including the likes of Napa Valley, Bordeaux, Mendoza, and Verona. Adelaide, South Australia joined the Great Wine Capitals network in 2016. The Adelaide membership includes the South Australian Tourism Commission, Primary Industries and Regions South Australia (PIRSA), the South Australian Wine Industry Association (SAWIA), University of Adelaide, and the University of South Australia.

Applications for the 2021 Best of Wine Tourism Awards close at 5pm on Friday 28 August 2020. Local winners will be announced in late September 2020, and the international award winner at the Great Wine Capitals AGM later in the year.
