Jayne Bates OAM
Jayne Bates has an extensive background in areas of regional tourism, local government, regional and community development, planning and natural resource management.
Jayne has lived on Kangaroo Island for most of her life and with her husband and son operate a farming enterprise, now covering six generations. She also operates a coastal tourist accommodation business in Penneshaw.
Jayne held the position of Mayor Kangaroo Island for eight years, until she stepped down in November 2014. She has fulfilled many roles, both local and state and was a Board member of the Kangaroo Island Futures Authority until June 2015.
Currently Jayne is an inaugural member and Acting Chair of the Kangaroo Island Industry and Brand Alliance, a Board member of Tourism KI and the KI Natural Resource Management Board and the independent Chair of the KI Development Assessment Panel.
