South Australians encouraged to fall in love with the Clare Valley

17 April 2014

The stunning landscape and intimate atmosphere of the Clare Valley will be highlighted in a new commercial to be released in cinemas today and screened on television across the State from late April.

Tourism Minister Leon Bignell said the new commercial, titled ‘Fall in love’ features the boutique attractions of the region.

“The new ad showcases the enticing experiences in Clare, through the eyes of a couple, who are drawn together by a weekend in the region. As they explore, they discover boutique food and wine experiences, enchanting heritage and local characters,” Mr Bignell said.

“The commercial highlights how visitors can discover the region through sampling the region’s produce, tasting fine wine, and staying in character-filled accommodation.”

Set to the song Caravans by local Adelaide band The Baker Suite, the ad opens to a shot of a couple searching for each other in Mintaro Maze. The ad then features the couple riding bikes along the Riesling Trail and stopping at Skillogalee for a wine tasting.

The Clare Valley weekend escape continues as the couple visit La Pecora Nera (The Black Sheep) to enjoy an Italian made, wood-oven pizza; climb the steps of Martindale Hall; and enjoy a glass of Riesling at Clos Clare. The ad closes with the tag-line ‘Fall off the map, and in love, in the Clare Valley’ as the couple relax together in the ambiance of the Rising Sun Hotel’s fireplace.

Minister Bignell said the campaign aims to create awareness of the Clare Valley among South Australians and help boost intrastate visitation to the region.

“This campaign will be used to remind South Australian’s that the Clare Valley has an outstanding tapestry of experiences,” he said.

The commercial is one of six new television advertisements for phase three of the South Australian Tourism Commission’s successful Best Backyard campaign encouraging South Australians to holiday in their own backyard.

It will appear in cinemas from today, on major television networks in South Australia later this month and next, and on The South Australia Travel Youtube channel.
