As the world’s best golfers prepare to leave Adelaide, racing fans are being urged to get a slice
of the upcoming Clipsal 500 Adelaide action.

Inspecting 10 of the events’ world-class vehicles today - including Lee Holdsworth’s V8
Supercar and Robby Gordon’s Toyo Tires Stadium Super Truck - Tourism Minister Leon
Bignell said there were just 10 days to go to the nation’s premier V8 car race.

“It’s one of the most exciting times of the year to be in South Australia,” Mr Bignell said.

“Yesterday was the last day of the Women’s Australian Open Golf. The four-day tournament
attracted a record crowd of more than 31,000 visitors.

“Adelaide is pumping with the Adelaide Fringe and other Mad March events and in 10 days,
there will be four action packed days of racing and world-class entertainment at the Clipsal 500

There will be eight race categories – V8 Supercars, Dunlop Series, Porsche Carrera Cup,
Toyo Tires Stadium Super Trucks, CAMS Australian GT Championship, Touring Car Masters,
Australian V8 Utes and Aussie Racing Cars.

“In 2015 we saw huge crowds – with 285,000 fans flocking to the event - and we expect the
same this year. Last year’s event also pumped $60 million into the state’s economy.”

Mr Bignell said the Clipsal 500 success was due to fans being offered a wide range of
entertainment, with competitive motorsport racing, family activities and evening concerts.

Clipsal 500 Director Mark Warren said construction was on schedule and the long range
weather forecast looked promising.

“We’ve focused heavily on giving fans the best experience possible to watch motorsport and
we’re really excited about the Grand Stands which offer larger, more comfortable seating with
the best views of the track and new super screens,” he said.

As well as the on-track excitement there will be the Cars of the Screen exhibition, featuring the
Batmobile and other movie and television favourites.

Clipsal 500 Adelaide will be held from 3 - 6 March.
