Michael Griffiths, experienced cabaret performer and entertainer, has been chosen as this year’s Feast Festival Ambassador. Studying Music Composition in Adelaide and Musical Theatre in Western Australia, Michael has been working in the industry for 15 years. During this time Michael has performed and toured Australia in musicals such as Jersey Boys and Priscilla. When he is not involved in a musical, Michael travels the world performing cabaret in different countries.
Michael has been a performer in the past two Feast Festivals and this year organisers decided to take his role in the festival to the next level. “Being asked to be an ambassador for this very friendly festival was flattering,” said Michael. “As a proud gay South Australian there is no festival better for me to be an ambassador for.”
This year’s Feast Festival is set to be bigger and better than ever with Conchita being part of the festival and the festival operating under a Fringe model. Being a Feast Ambassador means that Michael travels a lot to promote the festival. “On my travels abroad I encourage artists who perhaps haven’t been involved in Feast before to come and visit our beautiful city and soak up the festival,” said Michael. He is also the chair of the newly formed artistic committee that has put together the whole programme. “The committee and I have given the programme a particular flavour, making sure it is friendly and welcoming in keeping with our tag for this year ‘Come as You Are’.”
Coming on board with Feast has given Michael the opportunity to take on a new role in the industry that he is passionate about whilst connecting with people and telling the world about the festival and our state. When asked about his favourite things about South Australia Michael kept it simple saying “I love the seasonal weather, the easy pace and the fabulous produce. I always travel with Haighs chocolate and South Australian red wine as gifts, I’m very proud that way!” The 2015 Feast Festival will take place in Adelaide from 14 – 29 November.
