New hotel adds to city vibrancy

The opening of a new boutique hotel at North Adelaide is a further sign the State Government’s strategy of revitalising the city is attracting more private tourism investment, according to Tourism Minister Leon Bignell.

The North Adelaide Boutique Stayz Accommodation has opened in Gover Street, offering a range of four-star studio apartments and hotel rooms.

Minister Bignell said the hotel was the fifth to open in the Adelaide CBD and North Adelaide this year, which showed great confidence in Adelaide’s rapid growth as a tourism destination.

“With the huge success of the Adelaide Oval redevelopment, and the State Government’s $340 million upgrade of the Adelaide Convention Centre and Riverbank precinct, there is increasing international and domestic focus on Adelaide as a must-see tourism destination,” he said.

“The number of international tourists coming to South Australia is at record levels, with an increase of more than seven per cent during the 12 months to June, while the number of people from interstate visiting SA is also increasing.

“The State Government’s significant investment is being backed by private money, and developments such as the North Adelaide Boutique Stayz Accommodation will only add to the city’s new vibrancy.

“The Government thanks Randal and Jo Carter for their investment and the faith they’ve shown in South Australia’s tourism industry.

“Tourism is currently worth $5.22 billion to the South Australian economy, and developments such as this will help the State Government increase that economic benefit to $8 billion by 2020,” he said.

The hotel’s developers, Randal and Jo Carter, said they’re confident the property will become a destination of choice for discerning travellers.

“North Adelaide Boutique Stayz Accommodation is ideally located in the heart of historic North Adelaide, being close to the Adelaide Oval, the Women’s and Children’s Hospital as well as the Calvary and Memorial hospitals, and the O’Connell Street fashion and restaurant precinct,” they said.

“Our hotel offers boutique style accommodation at affordable rates, including hotel and spa rooms and apartment-style accommodation.

“Given our location near major hospitals, we’ve also included easily accessible rooms featuring hospital-style lift beds, as well as providing accommodation for families wanting to stay close to a loved one being treated in hospital.”
