A new $110 million luxury hotel will be built in Glenelg, creating an economic boost for the tourism hotspot and 200 jobs during construction.
The new 12-storey, five-star waterfront development, called Langham Place, will replace the Comfort Inn Hotel on Adelphi Terrace.
Tourism Minister Leon Bignell today met with representatives from Langham Hospitality Group along with Lustro Hotel Group Owner Bruno Marveggio for a ribbon cutting ceremony at the site. Langham Place is operated by the Lustro Hotel Group.
Demolition of the Comfort Inn Hotel will start in April and the Langham Hotel is expected to be completed by the middle of 2019. It will be the first hotel managed by the international Langham Hotel Group in South Australia.
The State’s visitor economy is at a record $6.2 billion and 11 new hotels have been announced for Adelaide between now and 2020 to accommodate our record visitor numbers.

Today’s announcement is brilliant news for the State and further confirms private and public investment in South Australia’s tourism sector is booming. The five-star hotel will have 146 rooms, 60 residential apartments, restaurants, high-end shopping, business and leisure facilities.
Visitors are contributing $6.2 billion to our State’s economy each year. Importantly, tourism jobs have grown by 4,000 in the past two years – a 14% increase – the best jobs growth in Australia.
The State Government sees tourism and major events as an important part of the transformation of South Australia’s economy and the development of Langham Place confirms this, with 200 jobs created during construction along with 35 more ongoing positions.
