Minister for Tourism

Local food, music, beer and cider will be showcased at the Adelaide Beer and BBQ Festival, to be held at the Adelaide Showgrounds from July 8 -10.

More than 50 brewers from across Australia are involved, with 34 from SA alone, including Lobethal Bierhaus, Vale Brewing, Pikes (Clare), Barossa Valley Brewing Company and boutique labels such as Smiling Samoyed.

Local cider makers are also taking part, with regional producers such as Hills Cider, the Barossa Cider Co, Kangaroo Island Ciders and Sidewood available to taste.

Food from Africola, Comida, Gilbert Street Hotel, Golden Boy, Gweilo BBQ, Jack Ruby, Nola, Street ADL and Rosa’s Argentinian Kitchen will also be available.

Prominent local chef Duncan Welgemoed (Africola), also one of the State’s premium food and wine ambassadors, will be cooking one of 12 barbecues as the event’s ‘BBQ ambassador’.

Another highlight of the festival is the Royal Adelaide Beer and Cider Awards, to be presented live at the Festival. Reintroduced as part of the Royal Adelaide Show in 2011 after an 80-year hiatus, the Beer Awards aim to recognise the importance of Australia’s $7 billion beer industry.

This is the second year the festival has been held, featuring live music with local acts, as well as a program of information sessions, Q&A with brewers and barbecue cooking demos.

The Adelaide Beer and BBQ Festival is South Australia’s biggest beer, cider and barbecue event, with the best of South Australian, Australian and international beer and cider.

More than 50 exhibitors will take part in this year’s event, along with some of South Australia’s best restaurants and chefs.

The festival has a commitment to the majority of exhibitors being local, independently owned, and are encouraged to support the event’s local produce partners.

The event is not only supporting local food, music, beer and cider, but is also shining a spotlight on our state, with producers from interstate travelling here specifically for it.
