In a once in a lifetime opportunity, cyclists can ride with Santos Tour Down Under Ambassador Jens Voigt in the Bupa Challenge Tour.
Minister for Tourism Leon Bignell said Jens, who is renowned for his tenacity, will be riding 142km from Norwood to Victor Harbor.
“Jens is a true legend of the sport,” Mr Bignell said.
“I can think of no better motivation than riding on the same team as the man who coined the phrase ‘shut up legs, please shut up and do what I tell you,” he said.
Fittingly, Jens’ team is called Shut Up Down Under.
Jens said he was looking forward to the Challenge – presented by The Advertiser - and he needed the support of his team to conquer the Norton Summit climb.
“Let’s make the Shut Up Down Under team and this ride fun. I love Australia and can’t wait to ride there again – especially with the amazing Aussie fans,” he said.
“Leading a Bupa Challenge Tour team gives me the chance to share some of the best cycling experiences I have had in my career which has taken me all over the world and of course, some of my best memories from the TDU.
“Now is the time to register, set some goals and start training before we meet in Adelaide to talk tactics.”
Members of Jens’ team will receive an exclusive Shut Up Down Under jersey and a private team event with Jens on the night before to provide motivation for the next day.
