Credit Unions celebrate 20 years of Pageant partnership

Thousands of South Australians are expected to line the streets today for the 2015 Credit
Union Christmas Pageant, as the credit unions celebrate 20 years of sponsorship of the iconic

Tourism Minister Leon Bignell said today was the perfect opportunity to acknowledge this
significant milestone.

“The Pageant has been a 365 day a year community commitment by the credit unions for 20
years,” Mr Bignell said.

“More than 1000 credit union staff take part and are also ambassadors each year.

“Their partnership with the State Government has meant the delivery of this magical event to
the people of South Australia year on year.

“The credit unions – People’s Choice Credit Union, Beyond Bank Australia, Credit Union SA
and Police Credit Union – provide the kind of support that makes the Pageant work, not only
financially but also as a spectacle.”

Pageant Creative Director and Event Manager Brian Gilbertson also praised the credit unions.

“We are looking forward to spreading Christmas cheer on this magical day, celebrating another
Pageant day with the credit unions and their staff, managers and directors,” he said.

“The Pageant’s partnership with the credit unions is true partnership in every sense of the word
and we thank them for their wonderful contribution across 20 years.”

The official start of the Credit Union Christmas Pageant will begin this morning with the gold
whistle being blown to start the parade at 9.30 am at South Terrace with Father Christmas
arriving at approximately 11.20 am at the stage in front of David Jones in North Terrace.

The Credit Union Christmas Pageant is owned and managed by the South Australian Tourism
Commission on behalf of the South Australian Government and sponsored by People’s Choice
Credit Union, Beyond Bank Australia, Credit Union SA and Police Credit Union.
