Creative team and dates confirmed for Tasting Australia

11 February 2015

The creative team that took Tasting Australia to new heights in 2014 will return for the festival’s next edition in 2016.

Tourism Minister Leon Bignell today confirmed that local chef Simon Bryant and wine expert Paul Henry would remain Tasting Australia’s creative directors.

Barossa food legend Maggie Beer will also stay on as Tasting Australia patron.

“We’re delighted that Simon and Paul will remain at the helm of Tasting Australia as the festival moves to an annual format,” Mr Bignell said.

“They are passionate about the produce and people that thrive here in South Australia and we look forward to seeing the next edition of the festival take shape under their leadership.”

Mr Bignell also announced the 2016 edition of Tasting Australia would be held from Sunday
1 May to Sunday 8 May.

Simon Bryant said he was excited to continue working on Tasting Australia.

“I’m looking forward to showing off our wealth of local talent - both producers and chefs- to our visiting guests, as well as stirring the pot on some important, complex, controversial and contentious food issues with our “think” sessions,” he said.

Paul Henry said the festival would again feature a range of local, national and international guests.

“One of the highlights of last year was the exchange of ideas between hosted guests and local producers - a chance to put Adelaide into an international perspective, and the opportunity for our local producers to shine in front of some of the world's most influential opinion-formers.

“Next year we are convinced we have even more to share, and at least an equal amount to learn!” Paul Henry said.

Tasting Australia began in 1997, quickly becoming one of the nation’s best attended and most influential culinary festivals.

The festival’s 2014 edition highlighted the premium food and wine found across South Australia, also encouraging people to consider how sense of place shapes their eating and drinking experiences.

The festival will be held annually from 2016.
