A new ride specifically aimed at families is the latest addition to the Santos Festival of Cycling calendar as part of next year’s Santos Tour Down Under.
Tourism Minister Leon Bignell said the addition of the new Bupa Family Ride gives people another opportunity to be involved with the event.
“We want to see families be active, making healthy choices and experience the event first hand,” said Mr. Bignell.
“The new Bupa Family Ride offers the chance for families to ride together for the first time on one of the event’s closed circuits.
“We do this on Be Safe Be Seen MAC Stage 6 for the Bupa mini tour for kids but it is now time to invite the adults to the track to share the glory.
“We hope this new ride encourages families to make a day out in the city’s East End, riding first and then staying on to watch the elite women and world’s best men battle it out for victory.
“A variety of registration options are on offer, starting at $25 for one adult and one child to take to the circuit for 30 minutes.”
John Moore, Director, Marketing, Bupa Australia and New Zealand said they are excited about the addition of the Bupa Family Ride, adding to the portfolio of elements Bupa support throughout the Santos Tour Down Under.
“We’re really proud to support an event that encourages families to get together, have fun and be active as a family. Cycling is a great way for families to get their daily dose of physical activity, build fitness and improve overall health.
“The Bupa Family Ride provides the perfect opportunity for people of all ages to take part in the iconic Tour and discover the health benefits of cycling,” said John Moore.
The Bupa Family Ride will be held on the circuit at the People’s Choice Classic in the East End on January 17, 2016 from 1pm – 4pm followed by the People’s Undies Run, Santos Women’s Tour and People’s Choice Classic.
