Adelaide Fashion Festival, Adelaide
Events South Australia is responsible for the creation and development of nationally and internationally recognised events. A designated event management team for each of these events works tirelessly throughout the year to ensure core events will continue to get bigger and better!
Tasting Australia is a celebration of eating and drinking that began in 1997 and has grown to be one of the nation’s most popular culinary festivals. In 2014 more than 50,000 people enjoyed Tasting Australia, which was given a fresh new focus by creative directors Simon Bryant and Paul Henry. More than 85 events took place around the state and a new festival hub, Town Square, was established in Victoria Square. Tasting Australia will become an annual event from 2016.
Santos Tour Down Under

Credit Union Christmas Pageant
The Credit Union Christmas Pageant is a South Australian institution. It brings families and the community together and is one of the world’s great pageants, with more than 57 festive and fairytale floats, 15 marching bands, dancing groups, 15 walking sets and 164 clowns in 75 clown sets. With more than 300,000 people lining the 3.3 kilometre route to watch and enjoy this wonderful procession each year, it is the largest pageant in the southern hemisphere.
Adelaide Fashion Festival
The Adelaide Fashion Festival is an annual celebration of South Australia’s growing fashion industry, taking place in October each year. The festival showcases both established and up-and-coming fashion plus accessories designers in a modern, innovative and relevant setting. Celebrating what is special about our local creativity and design, we also include photography, hair and makeup, art, food and wine across vibrant venues throughout the city of Adelaide. We are committed to expanding our fashion industry through a growing international focus on areas such as China, including our Sister State Shandong and Sister City Quingdao.
The Adelaide 500 is Australia's largest ticketed domestic motor sport event and the first round of the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship. First held in April 1999 as the Sensational Adelaide 500, it was staged as a motor racing event over three days until being extended to four days in 2003. An icon of the events and tourism calendar in Adelaide for the past 19 years, Adelaide 500 continues to evolve and introduce exciting on and off-track attractions including Stadium Super Trucks, Enduro-X, concerts from world-class music acts and themed exhibitions Cars of the Screen. In 2016, the Clipsal 500 Adelaide welcomed 263,500 patrons over its four days – including 13,500 interstate visitors – and injected over $65 million into the state, the highest ever recorded.
Bridgestone World Solar Challenge
The Bridgestone World Solar Challenge remains one of the world’s great engineering challenges. Held biennially since 1987, its purpose has been to drive innovation in electric vehicle technology, including designing and building the world’s most efficient electric vehicles powered by solar energy, and to promote and celebrate innovation and technical excellence. This internationally recognised and lauded challenge is about strategic planning and creating a balance between sustainable speed, endurance and energy management. The Bridgestone World Solar Challenge is unique and one of very few in the world conducted on public roads. It begins in Darwin and travels over 3,000 kilometres to Adelaide. In 2015, 46 teams from 25 countries participated in the event.
