Adelaide 500

The Adelaide 500 is Australia's largest ticketed domestic motor sport event and the first round of the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship. First held in April 1999 as the Sensational Adelaide 500, it was staged as a motor racing event over three days until being extended to four days in 2003.

An icon of the events and tourism calendar in Adelaide for the past 19 years, Adelaide 500 continues to evolve and introduce exciting on and off-track attractions including Stadium Super Trucks, Enduro-X, concerts from world-class music acts and themed exhibitions. In 2016, the Clipsal 500 Adelaide welcomed 263,500 patrons over its four days – including 13,500 interstate visitors – and injected over $65 million into the state, the highest ever recorded.
